Tom Cruise said that he “did not expect” for Katie Holmes to plot her escape from their lifeless, bizarre, Scientology-based, five-year-long marriage.
The actor was promoting his latest film, “Oblivion,” in Germany when the TV network ProSieben asked him about the divorce. “I did not expect that,” he said, according to E! News.
Holmes blindsided her then-husband with divorce papers last June, freeing her from Tom’s grasp.
Reports circulated that Holmes did not want to raise their daughter, Suri, as a Scientologist and wanted to get out of the relationship before that happened. Also, it could have been because Tom Cruise is a creepy, ageless freak of nature.
Don’t worry about Cruise, though, because the Scientologists are probably interviewing new girlfriends before he goes too long as a single man.
“Life is a challenge,” Cruise told ProSieben. “To be 50 and have experiences and think you have everything under control, and then it hits you — that’s what life is. … Life is tragicomic. You need a certain sense of humor.”
