Phillies center fielder Ben Revere made an incredible catch in the second inning of last night’s Phillies-Reds game in Cincinnati.

With a man on first, Reds third baseman Todd Frazier laced a ball into deep center field. The ball seemed destined to be an RBI double off of Phillies ace Cliff Lee.

Not so fast, Frazier.

Revere got a late jump on the ball but made up for it with his elite speed. At the last second, Revere assumed the Superman position. With arms outstretched and body mid-flight, he hauled in the ball for an amazing, run-saving catch.

The speedster then had the presence of mind to hop to his feet and throw the ball towards first base to secure a double play on Jay Bruce who had assumed — like everyone but Revere had — that the ball would land for an extra base hit.

Before the game, Revere had placed white athletic tape on his glove with the words “Pray for Boston” written on it.

A rare feel-good moment on a tough day in America.
