Earlier this month Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson decided to Tweet “War is nothing to be played with. I apologize North Korea……..but if y’all do bomb 1st…Bomb Foxborough, Mass. Sincerely, #BillsMafia.”

Foxborough, Massachusetts is where the Bills’ division rival New England Patriots call home, roughly 30 miles south of Boston.

Johnson said yesterday that his Tweet was “ironic” considering the recent Boston Marathon bombing and offered other sentiments regarding the tragedy.

“There’s really nothing to be played with, at the end of the day, with seeing what happened,” he said. “I feel like how everybody else in America feels. No Twitter, no games, no jokes, none of that. But at the end of the day, I feel just how everybody else felt when they see those bombs go off.

“The only gut reaction was hearing people was injured and people died,” he added. “The only thing about Twitter was how ironic it is. That’s a tough one. That’s a tough one to deal with.”

His initial Tweet certainly got some attention, and even more attention after Monday’s bombings.

Johnson may want to keep his Twitter feed quiet for awhile in light of this major foot-in-mouth moment.
