The great Mickey Kaus joins us on the podcast this week, to discuss blogging and, of course, immigration reform. It was a civil conversation that, I think, revealed the fundamental philosophical differences behind our opposing viewpoints.
Kaus’s opposition to amnesty is consistent with his other traditionally liberal views. “At the very bottom, people who work every day — for 40 hours — have to make enough to live a life of minimal dignity and respect,” he said. “And that’s why I support the minimum wage.”
People who work full-time, “should make a barely-decent amount of money,” he said, adding, “and I don’t think that’s possible with open borders.”
Listen to our full conversation below to hear more — as well as my rebuttal. (Note: The immigration stuff starts around the 14 minute mark).
