Spring games are the first time fans get to see their teams scrimmage. It’s a team’s offense versus its defense.

They are usually pretty low-key in terms of intensity, exemplified by Nebraska and East Carolina each allowing kids battling illnesses to score touchdowns on special plays.

Apparently, that’s not how they roll in the SEC as Auburn defensive back Jonathon Mincy absolutely leveled teammate Dimitri Reese on a screen pass in the Tigers’ spring game.

Mincy got charged with a personal foul and was ejected from the game after the vicious hit and a nice bit of taunting.

Once again, this was against a teammate in a game that doesn’t matter.

The announcer offered the words “OH! That hurt my teeth!” after seeing the replay.

Pretty sure it hurt more than Reese’s teeth.

Fortunately, Reese was able to walk off the field under his own power.
