New York City Gov. Andrew Cuomo is no fan Anthony Weiner.

In an interview with the editorial board of The Post-Standard and Syracuse Media Group, Cuomo said he was not opposed to the former congressman running for Mayor of New York City. Weiner, who resigned in disgrace after he was caught sending the tweet heard ’round the world, formally announced a bid on Wednesday.

But, Cuomo told Stephen A. Rogers, chairman of Syracuse Media Group, he would not think too well of New Yorkers if they actually elected him.

“So if Anthony Weiner wants to run for mayor, he can run for mayor,” Rogers said, according to a transcript of their conversation.

“He runs? He runs,” Cuomo replied.

“And if we elect him?” Rogers asked.

“Shame on us,” Cuomo said.
