Former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is currently being investigated for his role in an unsolved double homicide case, according to a report by Boston.com. Investigators believe that the July 2012 slayings of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado are connected to last week’s shooting of Odin L. Lloyd.

Hernandez, who was officially charged with the murder of Lloyd on Wednesday and subsequently denied bail, allegedly murdered him in a North Attleborough industrial park on June 17. Officials allege that Hernandez killed Lloyd because he had information about the deaths of Abreu and Furtado, which apparently resulted from a club altercation in south Boston.

“The motive might have been that the victim knew [Hernandez] might have been involved,” one investigator said.
