Immediately following the announcement that the “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill was passed by a 68-32 margin by Vice President Joe Biden, spectators in the Senate gallery began the chant “yes we can” in approval of the vote.
Biden then called on the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate to restore in the gallery and the chant was silenced.
The “yes we can” chant also broke out in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing last month after the bill passed that hurdle.
