Colorado Democratic Sen. Mark Udall’s brother Randy is missing in Wyoming’s Wind River Mountains, and a search and rescue operation involving both ground and aerial searches has been underway since Friday, Denver’s 9News reports.

“Mark is concerned about his brother’s whereabouts and he continues to closely monitor the situation,” Udall’s press secretary James Owens told the station. “He and his family hope for the best.”

Randy Udall, 61, is described as an avid hiker and backpacker who is familiar with the Wind River Mountains.

He was trekking alone and was due to return last Wednesday, but he hasn’t been heard from. He began his trip on June 20, according to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent.

Rescuers are searching an area of about 225 square miles.

Jim Mitchell, the Emergency Management Coordinator for Sublette County, told 9News that there have been no new leads on his whereabouts since the search began.

Randy Udall lives in Carbondale, Colo.
