An El Paso, Texas television news anchor was arrested early Thursday morning on domestic violence charges after she allegedly instigated a violent fight with her husband.

Adrienne Alvarez is the feisty reporter, according to the El Paso Times. She works for KTSM-TV, the local NBC affiliate.

Hazael Dominguez is the allegedly abused spouse.

The altercation occurred at around midnight on the 100 block of Desert Garden Drive in nearby Santa Teresa, New Mexico—presumably where the currently not-very-happy couple resides.

After responding to a domestic disturbance call, Doña Ana County police established that Alvarez had been the “primary aggressor” in the scrap, reports the Daily Mail. They arrested her on suspicion of battery against a member of a household and transported her to the Doña Ana County Detention Center.

She was released later on Thursday after posting a $1,000 bond.

Alvarez, 28, has been a KTSM reporter since 2007. The response of her bosses at the station was guarded.

“We are aware of the arrest but will wait for more details before making any other comments,” general manager Gary Sotir told the El Paso Times.

Alvarez, who is stunning even in in her mug shot, looks to stand a little over 5’4″ tall.

The anchor has won several awards for her reporting including at least one Lone Star Emmy. Also, in 2011, she was voted the best newscaster under 40 by “What’s Up El Paso.”

In one of the lower lights of her professional career, Alvarez mistakenly referred to an ice cream vendor as “an ass cream vendor” on live television before quickly catching the error and – with a sporting smile – correcting it.

Her station profile says that she enjoys “dancing, a good game of Scrabble and spending time with her family” during her time off. Her Facebook page boasts over 1,700 “likes.”
