America’s “porn professor,” Hugo Schwyzer, will now have all kinds of idle time to surf the internet, go shopping and generally gather new insights for his notorious course called course called “Navigating Pornography.”

The Pasadena City College professor may not teach the course again, though. Schwyzer said on Monday that he will take an extended leave of absence at the outset of the fall term, reports L.A. Weekly. He told the alternative rag that he will be on hiatus “for the first two months of the fall semester” and “under psychiatric care.”

The announcement comes after Schwyzer attempted suicide on Thursday. He was visiting his mother in Monterey, on Central California’s Pacific coast, when he “took an entire bottle of Klonopin,” a strong muscle-relaxing drug. (RELATED: America’s ‘porn professor’ attempts suicide in latest stunt)

After his attempt on his own life, he was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold at a local hospital. He is now back at his mother’s Monterey home.

Schwyzer, 46, told L.A. Weekly that his mental health crashed after a website called The Real Porn Wiki Leaks exposed a Weiner-esque texting and masturbatory phone sex affair with a 27-year-old woman who regularly appears naked on internet sex chats.

The married professor also allegedly had a few actual, physical affairs, though not with the 27-year-old woman.

Schwyzer, who has tenure, had said he was worried that the fling would ruin his career because he has been an ardent male feminist and an outspoken critic of middle-aged “creeps” who pursue younger women.

The history and gender studies professor is also famous for proclaiming his theory that mass shootings — e.g., Sandy Hook and Aurora — are the result of “frustrated white male privilege.” White males are suffering from “cognitive dissonance,” he has argued.
