A grand jury out of Bristol County Superior Court in Fall River, Mass., officially charged former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez with first-degree murder Thursday.

The 23-year-old Hernandez was indicted for the June 17 murder of 27-year-old semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Hernandez plead not guilty to six counts, which include weapons charges. If convicted, Hernandez could face life in prison.

Prosecutors allege that Hernandez killed Lloyd execution style because he had problems with people Lloyd was associating with, though the Hernandez defense team is confident the former NFL star will be found innocent.

Ernest Wallace was also indicted Thursday for being an “accessory after the fact.” Carlos Ortiz, another Hernandez associate, faces a gun charge. Both men plead not guilty.

Also joining the mix is Tanya Singleton, Hernandez’s cousin, who faces a contempt charge for failing to appear in front of a grand jury.

Hernandez remains at a Massachusetts county jail and is being held there without bail.
