Syrian President Bashar Assad told “CBS This Morning” co-host Charlie Rose that the U.S. should expect reprisal attacks if it launches strikes against his regime.

“Expect everything,” the despot said in a portion of the interview aired Monday. “You should expect everything. Not necessarily from the government. The government is not the only player in this region. You have different factions, you have different factions. You have different ideology. You have everything in this region now. So you have to expect that.”

Rose pressed Assad on whether terrorists would attack American targets.

“It could happen, I don’t know,” he said. “It could happen. I’m not a fortune teller, to tell you what will happen.”

“So nobody expects – there are going to be repercussions,” Assad said. “Nobody expected the 11th of September, so you cannot expect — It would be difficult for anybody to tell you what is going to happen.”
