It turns out that The Onion’s fake Subway promotion isn’t that far off-base.
What better way is there to honor the victims of the most horrific terrorist attack committed on American soil than with a discount on nine or 18 holes of golf?
Tumbledown Trails Golf Course in Madison, Wisc. ran this very real advertisement for 9/11 discounts in an actual newspaper that human beings read:
Tumbledown Trails is offering commemorative discounts on nine holes — with a cart! — for only $9.11 or 18 holes for $19.11 on Sept. 11, 2013 only.
Really, Wisconsin, this is something we would expect from Florida.
