As a child, getting a new Transformers toy was always a time of great excitement. With a few twists and turns, the sports car in your hands would become a jet, a few more twists and it became a robot, and another few twists would return it to its original state.
Years of childhood play meant that the process of transforming your favorite Autobot or Decepticon became second nature, ingrained in the subconscious like field-stripping a rifle is for a soldier. If you had a Transformer, chances are you can still remember how to transform it.
This childlike memory is now the subject for the latest Honda ad. In it, a pair of hands chart the evolution of Honda, from small motors, to motorbikes, cars, ATVs and garden machinery, to the latest version of the ASIMO robot.
In recent years, Honda has won significant applause for its commercials. Its 2009 ad entitled “The Cog” has received millions of views on YouTube and routinely places highly in lists of people favorite ads of all time.
