New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukarama says that his teammates sometimes call him “the Black Tim Tebow.”

Amukarama doesn’t drink, doesn’t have sex and was raised Catholic, and he said that those traits earned him the nickname with his teammates.

“It just started out as one of those things,” Amukarama said in an interview with Muscle & Fitness magazine. “I’d think, ‘If I do this, maybe I can get to heaven,’ so I said no drinks, no sex, all the big things. As I grew up, I realized that’s not what it’s about. It’s about having a relationship with Jesus.”

The cornerback said that he has abstained from drinking because he doesn’t see the point in getting drunk.

“So many bad things that happen and wind up in the paper are alcohol-related, so by not drinking, it saves me, my team, and my family a lot of trouble,” Amukarama said.

Amakurama also said that he is “not ashamed” of his virginity.

The 24-year-old is engaged to fiancé Pilar Davis and plans to get married the week after the Super Bowl, by which point he says he will have his first drink.

“I told my fiancé that I’ll probably take my first drink at my bachelor party,” Amukarama said.

The 0-2 New York Giants will face the Carolina Panthers this Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
