Just because the untrammelled growth of government is going to destroy the greatest nation in the history of the world, that doesn’t mean our employees’ current temper tantrum isn’t good for a few laughs.
A notice posted on the website of the Small Business Administration (SBA) warns furloughed employees that it is a “criminal offense” to use federal resources during the furlough period, including accessing government email accounts.

Please be advised, during the furlough period, non-excepted employees will no longer be permitted to utilize SBA email or other federal resources. Please know that use of federal resources while on furlough status is prohibited by law and is considered a criminal offense. Employees must NOT represent the agency in any formal or informal capacity.
B-b-but… what will small businesses do without the Small Business Administration to help them? Why do RethugliKKKans hate small businesses? Etc.
So: A useless government agency threatens its own employees with criminal prosecution for checking e-mail during a government shutdown caused by the Obama administration’s refusal to listen to advocates of smaller government. During a presidential administration that’s more hostile to small businesses than any in living memory. If you locked Rod Serling, O. Henry, Lewis Carroll, and Franz Kafka in a room together, they couldn’t have brainstormed anything this ironic and insane. (Plus they’re all dead, because Obamacare didn’t exist yet.)
