Tom Hardy, the actor who played Bane — the big, burly villain with the terrifying voice — in “The Dark Knight Rises” will play Sir Elton John in an upcoming biopic.

Hardy — who also starred in “Inception” — will play the flamboyantly amazing singer in “Rocketman,” Variety reports.

The film will trace the piano man’s life and career from when he was a young, musical prodigy up until his later career.

Clearly, the role is quite a departure from Hardy’s Batman villain, but the directors must have a lot of faith in Hardy because they plan to give the movie a “major U.S. release.”

“We are confident that Tom will embody the physicality and spirit of Sir Elton. This, in conjunction with the creative team led by Michael and Rocket Pictures, will provide the foundation for something that will be a unique cinematic event.”

And we are confident that if you don’t like Bane’s Hardy’s portrayal, he will break your back and leave you in an abandoned prison pit.
