Louis Delmas, safety for the Detroit Lions, has to finally say farewell to his six-foot alligator friend named Mojo. Mojo was originally a gift from Detroit Lions linebacker Ernie Sims when Delmas started as a rookie.

Sims is known for his collection of exotic pets, and Delmas has loved gators since he was a young boy in Florida, Michigan Live reports. Mojo was originally just an egg, but grew to live in a 36-square-foot tank in Delmas’ basement.

Unfortunately for Mojo, Delmas’ teammate Kevin Ogletree is planning on moving in with Delmas and said the reptile has to go.

“I told him I couldn’t stay there with the gator there, so he had to make some adjustments for the New York City kid,” Ogletree said.

Delmas wanted things to go a different way.

“I wish he would have come down there and put his hand in there,” he said. “He’ll be all right. He’s Ogletree. He’ll catch with one hand.”

Mojo now lives in the Allen Park Critter Shop.
