New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is leading a new primary poll of potential 2016 presidential candidates in South Carolina.
In the Conservative Intel poll of 379 likely primary voters, Christie attracts 19 percent support, narrowly edging Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who registers 17 percent support. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul comes in third in the poll with 13 percent support, followed by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and House Budget Chair Paul Ryan, both at 12 percent, and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal with 6 percent. Twenty-one percent of those polled said they were not sure.
The poll, which has a 5.03 percent margin of error, also shows Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham currently leading his declared and potential 2014 primary opponents with 51 percent support. His closest challenger is state Sen. Lee Bright, who registers 15 percent support in the poll. Twenty-two percent say they are not sure yet who they support.
