RUSSERT THE ARTISTE: A D.C. sunset brought to you by dreamy NBC congressional reporter Luke Russert

Reporter has thing for the word “dick”

“Am I only author w/ a co-author who wld say ‘a dog with two dicks’ in Italian [at a] church after being told 100 HS students would be present?” — TIME‘s Mark Halperin, author of Double Down. Halperin once jokingly called President Obama “kind of a dick” on MSNBC’s Morning Joe and got suspended for it.

And a NYT reporter gets inquires on the “robustness of his manhood”

“As reports of the treatment of Martin by a fellow lineman, the more improbably named Richie Incognito, became the biggest story in sports, my ‘@’ mentions on Twitter began including about an equal mix of hang-in-there notes of encouragement and pointed inquires about the robustness of my manhood.” — NYT reporter Jonathan Martin in a story last night on all the crap he’s been getting for sharing a name with ex-Miami Dolphins lineman Jonathan Martin. It’s unclear if angered fans were calling Martin a wimp or if he was getting hazed on the size of his penis. You’d think the esteemed editors at the NYT would want this to be clear. Remarked his wife, Betsy Fischer Martin, on Twitter: “Dream placement: @nytimes sports page.”

Deep toilet paper thoughts with a Washington reporter

“You can really tell a lot about a person by the way they put the toilet paper roll on the dispenser.” — Washington Examiner‘s Kelly Cohen.

A  rhetorical question, right?

“Hey, techie friends. Smoke just started pouring out of this MacBook cord. I should stop using, right?” — Politico‘s Byron Tau.

Pooler breaks glass, POTUS notices

“As your pool was ushered out moments later, a radio pooler knocked a glass behind the bar to the ground, breaking it. ‘Put that on their tab,’ the president quipped.” — The Hill‘s Justin Sink in a Tuesday White House Pool Report. The bar was Molly Malone’s bar in Washington’s Barrack’s Row.

Journo Love

“Been off the grid, but want to give a shout out to @brianstelter, who’s joining @CNN. Brian, the rule is new guy buys 1st, 2nd & 3rd rounds.” — CNN’s Mark Preston on the network’s new hire of NYT‘s Brian Stelter.

NRSC Spokesman Brad Dayspring was in fine spirits last night. Gone was his fiery temper as he posted news of his “better half’s” new job on Facebook: “Lauren Pratapas has joined CNN as a senior publicist. Prior to joining the cable channel, she served as a senior director at Story Partners, a Washington-D.C. based public affairs firm. She also worked as director of new media for Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). She’ll be working primarily with Jake Tapper and his show The Lead as well as supporting the newly-relaunched Crossfire.”
