Martin Bashir’s apology for saying Sarah Palin should eat feces may not have saved him from getting the boot at MSNBC.

Politico reports that sources at the network claim the left-wing shock jock is on temporary suspension for the offensive remarks, a claim MSNBC denies. Spokeswoman Lauren Skowronski told Politico that Bashir was “still out on vacation,” but repeatedly refused to say when he would return.

On November 15, Bashir said Sarah Palin was a “world class idiot” and that she was an “outstanding candidate” for a slavery-era punishment that forced the victim to eat feces. Despite apologizing three days later, he has not been on the air since last Monday. At the time, Skowronski told the Washington Post the anchor was on a “pre-planned vacation.”

If Bashir does get the axe, his head would only be the latest to roll at the hapless cable network. Alec Baldwin was fired from MSNBC last week after reportedly calling a photographer a “cocksucking faggot.”
