Northern Illinois University is introducing a new furry face to its school.

After its old husky mascot, Diesel, retired at the end of November, they needed a new furball with the dedication it would take to represent the school.

Mission is almost two years old, according to ESPN, and seems poised to take on the responsibility. NIU released a video introduction to the pup, including showing what training he has gone through to make him ready for this task.

Alumni John and Cassandra McKearn are responsible for bringing this blue-eyed canine to the school. Before Mission, Diesel had served as mascot for nine years and was given the distinction of “mascot emeritus” at their game against Western Michigan for his retirement.

Everyone can agree that Mission is a welcome addition to any football game.
