Dr. Ben Carson will headline a January fundraiser for Senate hopeful Monica Wehby, a Republican looking to unseat Oregon Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley.

Wehby, like Carson, is a pediatric neurosurgeon, and that background could make her more competitive in a state where the problems with the Obamacare rollout have been particularly pronounced.

Oregon launched its own healthcare exchange, and its rollout has been even rockier than the federal exchange. Three months later, the website still does not work. Oregonians seeking to purchase insurance through the exchange are being forced to use paper applications. On Thursday, the official who over saw the building of the site resigned.

The event will take place on Jan. 31 in Wilsonville, Oregon at McMenamins Old Church. For $1500, guests can attend a private dinner; $250 buys a photo and a signed book, and $25 gets an invitation to the reception.
