Listen up, kids! If The Daily Caller has said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times: lay off really hard drugs with names like “Meow Meow.”
In the wee hours of Dec. 29, a 19-year-old British college student failed to heed this sage advice. Things did not go well. In a nutshell, the kid sliced off his own penis after allegedly getting high on “Meow Meow,” which is a synthetic party drug officially called mephedrone.
Prior to mutilating himself, the unidentified student stabbed his own mother, reports the Daily Mirror. The mom managed to call 999 (the Brit version of 911).
Meanwhile, the crazed student was half slung out of a bedroom window, bleeding profusely.
Police and ambulances arrived. The mother, 46, and her son were rushed to local hospitals.
The mother’s stab wound was reportedly very serious, but she is now in stable condition.
As for her drug-addled son, surgeons managed to sew his penis back on. He, too, has recovered and is now also in stable condition.
The incident occurred in Haywards Heath, a town about 40 miles south of London.
“He is normally a lovely lad and very bright. But unfortunately, he had started dabbling in drugs,” a family friend told the Mirror.
“He had come home from university for Christmas. It looks like he took mephedrone and completely flipped out, attacking his mum and then himself,” the source added.
County detective inspector David Springett told The Independent that police are pretty sure the kid cut off his own penis and then stabbed his own mother, but an investigation into “who might know anything about what happened” is ongoing.
“Officers are at the scene collecting evidence and speaking to residents about what they might know,” Springett noted.
Mephedrone is a synthetic stimulant drug that is supposed to cause the desirable effects of cocaine: elevated mood, improved mental function, mild sexual stimulation, etc. However, undesirable effects can include paranoia, hallucinations, delusions and erratic behavior—such as, just instance, cutting off your own penis.
The most severe negative effects seem to occur at high does, with prolonged use or when users make the drug part of larger cocktail of drugs.
China is a big manufacturer of mephedrone. Users can swallow, snort or inject it.
