Clinical psychologist Tim Daughtry, a co-author of “The Sleeping Giant: How Mainstream America Can Beat liberals at Their Own Game,” issued a stark warning to conservatives battling progressivism in the age of President Barack Obama.

“I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that if this generation of conservatives doesn’t change the narrative and  start putting the left on defensive and start promoting liberty then we will be the last generation to know what America was,” Daughtry said in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller.

The steady creep of progressivism in America was accelerated by Obama, and the speed of the changes created a political schism between the American people.

“The left’s strategy has always been gradualism,” Daughtry said. “It’s been the long march through the institutions, so they have gradually worn away the Constitution, they have gradually worn away liberty. What happened after 2008 was the long march became a blitzkrieg. I mean, they came full bore. They really picked up speed and I think they didn’t anticipate mainstream America… was going to get off the lawn mower and get into politics, and say, ‘Wait a minute, we’re going in the wrong direction here.'”
