Slate wins the afternoon award for the most poorly written This Town photo caption regarding “wunderkind” Ezra Klein‘s decision to bolt from The Washington Post. His new venture, allegedly his own news organization with 30 employees, has so far not been disclosed. Newsroom bets are on Vox Media according to BuzzFeed.

But forget all that. More importantly, the award-winning caption Slate used in their picture of Klein:

“Journalist Ezra Klein attends The New Yorker’s David Remnick Hosts White House Correspondents’ Dinner Weekend Pre-Party at W Hotel Rooftop on April 26, 2013 in Washington, DC”

Translation: Ezra got into a This Town-esque White House Correspondents’ party in 2013, making him among the big shots of Washington media. The New Yorker party is typically tough to get into as organizers prefer an exclusive list of guests who won’t really write about it. Add in words that will f–k the whole thing up and there you have Slate‘s Oscar-worthy caption.
