Ted Nugent raffles off AR-15 for Colorado gubernatorial campaign

Rocker Ted Nugent is back on the political scene — this time serving as the face of Colorado gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo’s AR-15 raffle.

“How would you like a brand new AR-15 for free?” reads the offering, beside a picture of Nugent holding a gun, on Tancredo’s campaign website.

The “Cat Scratch Fever” singer offers potential entrants and voters details about the raffle.

“Ted Nugent here, with an important message for you: There’s a very good reason I’m supporting Tom Tancredo in his gubernatorial campaign,” Nugent explains on the site. “Tom is relentless. As a congressman, he made waves in Washington by vehemently opposing President Bush’s wasteful spending spree, amnesty for illegal immigrants, and of course, insane infringements to our sacred Second Amendment rights. Mark my words: we’ll keep our guns if Tom wins this race.”

The contest, which ends on Friday, requires entrants to simply provide a name, email, phone number, age, and address.

“I fight hard everyday. But I need you to join me – so I’m willing to give you some incentive…How would you like a brand new AR-15 for free?” Nugent asks.

Nugent came under fire in recent weeks for calling President Obama a “subhuman mongrel.” He later apologized for his comment.

According to the Denver Post, Nugent has been the voice of the three of Tancredo’s fundraising pitches.

“He has given me the ability to say, ‘I wouldn’t go that far,’” Tancredo told The Post of Nugent’s participation in his campaign.

Six other Republicans are running against Tancredo for the chance to unseat Democrat incumbent Gov. John Hickenlooper, according to The Post.
