The flames from a fireworks display at the Atlanta Braves home opener Tuesday night lit their American flag on fire and left it seriously damaged.
Julie Paulk captured the moment and posted the photo to her Facebook with the comment: “WOW! The American flag caught on fire tonight at the opening day game! Glad I had my camera!” She later uploaded this YouTube video with more photos.

A Braves spokesperson told 11Alive News a new pyrotechnics (fireworks) setup was responsible — they put them on top of the giant screen and one flew into the flag. She said the material is flame-retardant, so the fire went out on its own.
The flag will be replaced Wednesday.
