On Sunday, Rascal Flatts found out that what hurts the most is being called out lip-syncing at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Under suspicion from fans and ACM viewers, the band released a statement explaining that lead singer Gary LeVox lost his voice.

“We’ve never done it before and we’re obviously not very good at it,” the statement read. “We look forward to singing live again in the very near future!”

Here are nine other examples of top artists faking it for the fans:

No. 10: Anyone catching the Rascal Flatts irony of lip-syncing a song named “Rewind?”

No. 9: Beyonce had a rough time singing the national anthem. But don’t we all? Er, no. Read the rest about this fiasco here.

Watch:

No. 1: The days of Ashlee Simpson are long gone. But her lip-syncing in 2004 will live on in infamy. Her track kept going, and she wasn’t read for it. Now it’s considered one of the most obvious incidents of lip-syncing of all time.
