Alabama state Rep. Alvin Holmes, a Democrat, said last month that Republicans would support abortion if their daughters were impregnated by black men, and promised to give $100,000 to anyone who could prove that “a whole bunch of whites,” had adopted black children in the state of Alabama.

In response, a whole bunch of white parents and their adopted minority children marched on the state House of Representatives Wednesday — and they want Holmes to either apologize or fork over the cash.

“I would like for him to ‘man up,'” said Beverly Owings, the white mother of an adopted 13-year-old biracial daughter, according to ABC 3340. “He’s made the statement. He needs to put his money where is mouth is.”

If Holmes isn’t willing to pay, he should at least apologize, said Owings.

“I was very angry that we had an elected official that would speak so negatively against our children and families in Alabama,” she said.

Holmes did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
