Brad Pitt is set to play Gen. Stanley McChrystal in the forthcoming film “The Operators,” based on the late Michael Hastings’ 2011 book of the same name, the Los Angeles Times reports.

McChrystal was forced to resign as the commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan after he made disparaging remarks about President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and other members of the administration in Hastings’ infamous 2010 Rolling Stone profile, “The Runaway General.”

In the article, McChrystal and members of his staff mocked Biden and more of their civilian superiors, but claimed that they thought they were speaking off the record after the story was published.

Australian director David Michod (“Animal Kingdom,” 2014’s “The Rovers”) will direct the film and Pitt’s production company, Plan B, will co-produce.
