Cleta Mitchell, the legal counsel for True the Vote, one of the conservative groups targeted by the IRS due to their political activity, accused President Obama of lying during his interview with Bill O’Reilly when he claimed that there was not a “smidgen of corruption” surrounding the IRS scandal.

“He’s lying. I knew he was lying. He was lying just like I knew when Lois Lerner on May the 10th of 2013 that  she had ‘Just found out’ … I knew that was a lie,” Mitchell told The Daily Caller.

Speaking to TheDC for a forth coming interview, Mitchell, a former democrat, highlighted what she sees as a complicity of bias in the IRS against conservative groups.

“You have the President of the United States, elected members of Congress calling on the IRS to silence their political opponents and having the IRS management and top brass doing what the politicians wanted them to do, essentially taking sides in a philosophical and political debate between conservatives and liberals,” Mitchell said.

As a lawyer, Mitchell says she has been  stunned by what she has discovered since taking on the case. She highlights the changes that have occurred in politics and how bureaucracies, instead of remaining impartial are now taking sides in the political process to inhibit the actions of rivals.

“To me that is the really, outrageous conduct in Washington. You had these brazen members of Congress and the White House going around, the president giving a dozen speeches attacking conservative groups saying ‘Somebody ought to do something to shut them down’ and members of Congress, Democratic members of Congress saying ‘Shut them down’ and Lois Lerner and Steve Miller and Douglas Shulman did what they were asked,” Mitchell stated.

Mitchell continues: “None of those people are subject to any kind of political repercussions they are all protected civil service employees. Tell me why they didn’t exercise that protection and say ‘We are not the enforcement arm of the Democratic Party’ but they didn’t do that they did exactly what the politicians, the Democrat politicians wanted them to do and they lied to the Republicans when asked about it.”
