Fox News’ “The Five” wondered why liberals blast Cliven Bundy’s refusal to pay taxes on land owned by the federal government, yet praise illegal immigrants (and Al Sharpton) for breaking federal law and dodging taxes.
The left has furiously attacked Bundy since the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) withdrew their forces from the Nevada rancher’s land following a tense standoff that nearly resulted in armed conflict between police officers and militia members.
“I don’t feel sorry for the guy at all,” liberal co-host Bob Beckel said. “He’s a tax dodge. He oughta be indicted.”
“Do you feel the same about Al Sharpton?” Perino replied. “Al Sharpton owes $1.9 million, and the president did an event with him praising him just last Friday.”
Bolling challenged Beckel to explain why liberals are so incensed over Bundy’s lawlessness, but are willing to overlook — if not applaud — illegal immigrants for ignoring federal immigration and tax laws:
BOLLING: Hang on, where are you on amnesty for illegal immigrants?
BECKEL: I am for a program that —
BOLLING: See, but here’s why —
BECKEL: Why do you keep bringing these things in here!
BOLLING: Because they don’t pay any taxes!
BECKEL: This has nothing to do with —
BOLLING: Bob, they’re tax dodgers also!
BECKEL: You know who uses most illegal aliens? Are ranchers and farmers.
BOLLING: I’m simply saying, if you have a problem with the rancher for not paying his “taxes,” don’t you have the same problem with illegals who aren’t paying any taxes whatsoever?
BECKEL: Well, I — first of all, they do pay a lot of sales tax, and they pay a lot of other things. And they also work.
