Everyone knows that dating can be rough. It takes lots of effort to find someone and then you have to impress them. Luckily, for some people, there’s the shortcut provided with dating shows.

One man did just that in Turkey. Sefer Calinak, 62, went on the dating show “Luck of the Draw,” aired on Turkey’s Flash TV. He said, “I’m an honest person looking for a new wife,” and then proceeded to tell a little bit more about himself. Like the fact he had spent time in prison for killing his first wife, and then his married lover, with an ax.

He explained that he killed his first wife, who happened to be his cousin, because he was “jealous.” He was sentenced to 13 years in jail, but was released after four and a half, reports the Huffington Post. He remarried after getting out, and began an affair with a married woman.

One day the two fought and he claims she came at him, so he swung an ax at her in self defense. After he started talking about that killing, the host finally asked him to leave the show.

Apparently though, the show knew about one of the murders and his time in prison, but decided he should be allowed to come on the show because he had served his time.
