Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi had an explanation for recent questions around presumed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s health, claiming Republicans have been “driven to their wits’ end” by the former secretary of state’s “strength, popularity and prestige.”

The California congresswoman appeared on CNN Wednesday afternoon. Host Wolf Blitzer asked Pelosi what she thought about Karl Rove’s comment, made earlier this week, that Clinton may have brain damage due to a fall she suffered almost two years ago.

“I think that Hillary’s strength, her popularity, the prestige she enjoys, has driven Republicans to their wits’ end,” Pelosi declared. “That’s what I think. I think what he said was just — it only makes her stronger.”
