This morning Politico‘s famed “Playbook” writer and Chief White House Correspondent Mike Allen is hosting a contest. The essence: What will NYT ousted Executive Editor Jill Abramson do next after being fired?

Allen made it the lead item. He also made the prize lunch with NYT Magazine writer and This Town author Mark Leibovich, who would, of course, provide the winner of a ‘what will his ex-boss do next’ contest with a signed copy of his book.

Sounds like a super fun time. Except there’s a catch: Allen never cleared the contest with Leibovich, who had no idea this was coming down the pike. “Joking I assume,” Leibovich told The Mirror. “I didn’t know he was doing this.”

PLAYBOOK CONTEST: Who is Jill Abramson’s next employer? Send your answer tomallen@politico.com, #Jill (so I can search the entries when we know the answer). The prize: lunch with Leibo, and a signed (paperback) copy of ‘This Town.'”

The Mirror pressed Allen for more details and included one big question: Is he serious?
