President Obama is just like us. To be precise, he’s just like the reporters White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is so fond of.

Following Obama’s speech earlier this morning, Carney elaborated on the president’s statements regarding the United States Department of Veterans Affairs scandal at the White House’s daily press conference.

He managed to slight the president in the process.

Alexis Simendinger, White House Correspondent for RealClearPolitics, asked Carney to confirm that Obama said Shinseki and he were not aware of any allegations of cooking the books.

In his reply, Carney refers to “cooking the books” as a phrase “the folks here” are using.

Perhaps Carney just forgot that the president also used that phrase not once, but twice.
