Font Size:

On Tuesday night, rapper 50 Cent (real name: Curtis James Jackson III) uncorked the ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field before a baseball game between the New York Mets and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

It was awful. Just bizarrely awful — so awful that USA Today has already speculated that it could only have been intentional.

You can decide for yourself by watching 50 Cent’s pitching prowess.

However, the broader question is whether 50 Cent’s horrendous pitch was the worst first pitch ever thrown in the history of time.

About a week ago, a cat that saved a four-year-old boy from a vicious dog attack threw out – “threw out” – the first pitch at a minor league Bakersfield Blaze game. It was pretty bad.

In 2007, Mark Mallory, the mayor of Cincinnati, threw out a scintillatingly dreadful first pitch that was very reminiscent of 50 Cent’s effort.

In 2006, the assistant dean of a Nevada medical school pitched this spectacularly terrible gem.

In 2009, President Barack Obama threw out the first pitch at the MLB All-Star Game. The pitch itself wasn’t half bad, but those jeans! Those mom jeans are worthy of a dishonorable mention here.
