During the Artboom Festival this week, Lenin made his triumphant return to a city in Poland.

Only he is neon yellow and urinating.

The Polish town of Nowa Huta was built during the high days of communism as an enclave meant to become a beacon of communism.

The statue is officially called “Fountain of the Future” and unofficially known as “Pissing Lenin. It was constructed on top of a base where an old Lenin statue stood.

The town was meant to be a means for communism to spread to Poland, but the workers resisted, with protestors damaging the original statue in 1979. Since then, the city hasn’t known what to put in its place.

It is a temporary part of an art show, and the artist said it is meant to inspire debate and discussion about a permanent installation at the site.
