The power couple that is Beyonce and Jay-Z began their North American “On the Run” tour Wednesday night in Miami.
The two opened their tour to a crowd of 76,000 at Sun Life Stadium. MTV.com reported that the duo sang a Herculean 42 song set, joining each other on stage interchangeably. The show included unique song covers; Beyonce sang Justin Timberlake’s parts in “Holy Grail” and Jay-Z remixed “Partition.” Jay-Z told the crowd, “We celebratin’ love.”
When Jay-Z performed his hit “Tom Ford,” Beyonce joined him as she donned a military cap, repeating the “bad bitch, H-Town line.”
They ended the show with a mashup of Jay-Z’s “Forever Young” and Beyonce’s “Halo,” and treated fans to a video of home movies, with shots of their only child, Blue Ivy. The video also included shots from their 2008 wedding, an event that has stayed under wraps until now.
