Air travel may be the safest form of travel, but it can still get scary. Footage posted online shows a near miss on July 5 between a Russian Boeing 767 trying to land and an Argentine Aerolíneas Argentinas Airbus A340-300 trying to take off at Barcelona airport.
One minute, the Russian plane is on a leisurely approach to the runway, and the next the Argentine plane trundles into the space that the Russian plane is aiming to land . Thankfully, the Russian pilot reacted quickly, and was able to make an emergency climb.
“Look both ways before crossing the street” is just as true for planes as on Main Street.
