Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-N.M.) has the heart melting story of the day. But is it really fitting for a campaign mailer?

She lost her dog Kiwi 13 months ago — her “very best four-legged friend” Kiwi — and magically enough, the pooch was returned to Grisham safe and sound.

She writes to voters in a letter Wednesday morning, “I still can’t find the words to express how thrilled and grateful I am to have Kiwi home. I learned a lot during my search for her, especially that you can never lose hope that you and your pet will be reunited. There is a lot more we can do to make it easier to reunite lost pets with their owners and I hope my story, and its happy ending, can be an inspiration to those searching for their missing pet.”

Yeah, no kidding, congresswoman. It’s called a microchip and fits nicely into the dog’s ear.

(She then directs voters to the Humane Society website.)

The Mirror requested comment from Grisham’s spokesman, Eric Bontrager. We’ll report back if he gets in touch.
