Truly heartwarming for Washington.
Lisa De Pasquale, a columnist for Breitbart News and Townhall and author of Finding Mr. Righteous, was on a flight to Arizona when she got stiff and began foaming at the mouth. She has no memory of the incident.
But Rep. Raul Ruiz (D-Calif.) does.
The lawmaker, who happens to also be an MD who graduated from Harvard Medical School and has worked in emergency medicine, was among several politicians on the flight as well as Townhall‘s Katie Pavlich. And when flight attendants called for a doctor on board, he came to her rescue, helped her and sat beside her for the remainder of the flight.
This isn’t the first time that Ruiz has stepped in to provide medical assistance on a plane. In October of 2013, he was on a flight out of DCA when a man with low blood pressure passed out. Ruiz stabilized him and instructed the pilot to land in Raleigh so the dehydrated man could get further help.
De Pasquale called it a “lesson in politics meaning nothing when you just need the right person to help.”
She says this was the first time she’s ever had a seizure — her father has epilepsy, but the journo has never displayed symptoms.
De Pasquale later added, “It’s a reminder that when we’re away from D.C., we’re just people who need one another.” To that end, she tells The Mirror she even got the congressman to agree to buy her book, which details her dating sexapades.
