Dodge’s new production line sedan is the fastest ever built, and the American muscle heavyweight is proving by posting a higher top speed than storied high-performance European supercars including Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche.
Boasting 707 horsepower and a top speed of 204 m.p.h., Dodge confirmed this week its new 2015 Charger Hellcat takes the top spot thanks to its 6.2 liter supercharged Hemi Hellcat V8, eight-speed automatic transmission and advanced powertrain technology, Business Insider reports.
The Hellcat can hit 60 m.p.h. in 2.7 seconds, dash a quarter mile in 11 and hit 100 m.p.h. in 13.
According to the report, the Hellcat’s top speed puts it above the 2014 Ferrari 458 Speciale (202 mp.h.), 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S (197 m.p.h.) and 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo (202 m.p.h.), all of which retail between $180,000 to more than $260,000, compared to the Hellcat’s estimated $63,000.
