Fox News host Greg Gutfeld mocked and denounced the Common Core federal education standards on Thursday, claiming it’s “making the lives of kids and their parents hell” and calling it “another government experiment sinking under its unbearable complexities.”

Gutfeld ridiculed a new Common Core method for teaching kids how to add 9 + 6 — a mind-numbing 54 second explanation that needlessly complicates basic math for students. (RELATED: Common Core Teaches Kids New Way To Add 9 + 6 That Takes 54 Seconds)

“So let’s get this straight,” he said. “9 + 6 is so scary that we must partner 9, then anchor 10 and decompose 6. Partner, anchor, decompose. That’s not math, that’s the plot from ‘Silence of the Lambs'” . . . Using this logic, if you want to teach me to fish, first teach me to fly a kite!”

“Thank you, Common Core,” Gutfeld continued, “for making the lives of kids and their parents hell. Because that means there’s fewer people at the movies, at the mall, in the park. I have the outside world to myself while families huddle over a manual like a lost book of the dead.”

“Common Core may be the most unsolvable word problem on the planet,” he charged, “another government experiment sinking under its unbearable complexities. For you, 1 + 1 = 2. But to Common Core, it’s an uncomfortable situation for our fragile snowflakes.”
