CNN’s S.E. Cupp unfortunately lost. So did Fox5’s Emily Miller (who didn’t fare so well among some viewers during the last several weeks of tryouts).

So who won The View‘s conservative female spot? As reported by Variety and some other outlets, GOP operative Nicolle Wallace, whose laugh could burn a hole in your brain cavity, is the unremarkable pick. The other new host will be Rosie Perez. They’ll join Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg.

Wallace worked in the communications office of former President George W. Bush. She also worked as a senior advisor to Sen. John McCain‘s (R-Ariz.) presidential campaign in 2008.

On the bright side: Wallace has pretty highlights in her hair. And hey, at least she won’t be fawning all over MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on “Morning Joe” and dutifully laughing–no, more like cackling like a sick chicken–at his occasionally amusing commentary. On the downside, it doesn’t seem like there will be any great friction among Wallace and the other hosts. As evidenced by Whoppi’s appalling behavior, either a Cupp or Miller pick would’ve provided that in a heartbeat.

Balloon officially deflated. Let’s hope there are surprises in store.
