Good things come to those with fathers in high places. In this case, when your father is a CNN contributor and the former White House Press Secretary to President Obama, there are perks. Tonight, it’s that Jay Carney‘s 12-year-old son, Hugo, the frontman of the boy band Twenty20, gets to play on the South Lawn of the White House.

It’s not like he’s the late Tim Russert‘s son, but he’s a tween and has time to rise up in This Town‘s ranks.

Hugo’s band surfaced in a White House pool report Monday night. This is from RealClearPoliticsAlexis Simendinger:

“From a WH official (after some POOL questions this evening): ‘In advance of Wednesday’s Congressional Picnic, the South Lawn is being set up to host members of Congress. This evening, the President hosted agency staff from across the Administration as an appreciation for their government service.’

A certain boy band is in concert. See tweet from former press secretary Jay Carney. His son’s band, Twenty20, is playing this evening on the grounds for that event. (Indeed, rock music has been heard coming from the White House South Lawn for several hours.)”

Indeed a tweet from Jay Carney featured his son. He wrote, “Twenty/20 in concert.” Jay’s profile picture is he and Obama in a walking embrace.

Hugo’s bandmates are also sons of Washington bigwig Obama employees: On the drums is former Obama campaign adviser Patti Solis Doyle’s son, Joey, U.S. Trade Rep. Mike Froman’s son, Ben, plays guitar and HUD Sec. Shaun Donovan’s son, Lucas, plays bass.

It’s all so cozy. The boys are classmates at Sidwell Friends School, where Sasha and Malia Obama can also be found in the school hallways.
