A Ferguson, Mo., police officer was shot in the arm Saturday night.

KMOV in St. Louis confirmed the shooting with St. Louis County Police. The officer is reportedly still alive, as of press time late Saturday night. A search is on for suspects.

Tensions remain high in the area after headline-making racial protests in response to police officer Darren Wilson’s fatal shooting of Michael Brown on Aug. 9. The Obama administration’s Department of Justice recently mandated that Ferguson police officers stop wearing “I Am Darren Wilson” bracelets in solidarity with the controversial officer.

As of press time, it has not been confirmed that the shooting was related to the Michael Brown backlash.
