Congressional hopeful Clay Aiken (D-N.C.) may be trying to run away from his American Idol past.
But somehow he keeps embracing it.
A video posted by a fan at one his stops on the North Carolina campaign trail has emerged showing an extremely awkward Aiken attempting to do the Cupid Shuffle, a classic party dance. The dancing, which begins at 2:10 (see the video below), is for all to view in all its glorified bizarreness.
Other attempts to make people forget his Idol past have also proven to be futile. His friend, Fantasia, another Idol winner, and his old nemesis, Ruben Studdard, have come back to North Carolina to help their pal campaign.

In other Aiken weirdness, he recently asserted his manliness by saying in a Washington Post interview that Jennifer Lawrence and other celebs who’ve had nude pictures leaked “got what they deserved.”
No doubt this can only aid in his congressional bid.
